Fes to Meknes & Volubilis, overnight in Meknes
Your heritage journey begins at 9:00 AM as we depart Fes for the short drive to Meknes, one of Morocco's four imperial cities and the former capital of Sultan Moulay Ismail. Begin your exploration at the magnificent Bab Mansour, widely considered the most beautiful gate in Morocco.
Continue to the Heri es-Souani, the imperial granaries and stables built by Moulay Ismail to feed and house his 12,000 horses. Visit the Mausoleum of Moulay Ismail, one of the few religious sites in Morocco open to non-Muslims.
After lunch in Meknes, continue to the ancient Roman ruins of Volubilis, a UNESCO World Heritage site. Walk among the impressive ruins and admire the remarkably preserved mosaics. Return to Meknes for overnight.
Meknes to Chefchaouen via Ouazzane
After breakfast in Meknes, we begin our journey north toward the Rif Mountains and the famous Blue City. Our route takes us through fertile agricultural lands. We'll make a stop in Ouazzane, a spiritual town known for its Jewish heritage.
Continue our ascent into the Rif Mountains. We'll make a photo stop at a panoramic viewpoint before arriving in Chefchaouen around midday. After checking into your riad, enjoy lunch at a rooftop restaurant with stunning mountain views.
The afternoon is dedicated to exploring the famous blue streets with a local guide. Visit the Kasbah Museum, the Grand Mosque (exterior), and the bustling Plaza Uta el-Hammam. Climb to the Spanish Mosque for a spectacular sunset over the blue city.
Chefchaouen Exploration & Return to Fes
Wake up to the peaceful sounds of the mountains and enjoy breakfast on your riad's terrace. The morning is yours to explore Chefchaouen at your own pace. Visit the Ras el-Maa waterfall on the edge of the medina.
For those seeking adventure, an optional guided hike to the God's Bridge (Akchour) can be arranged. This natural rock arch and nearby waterfalls offer beautiful scenery.
Return to the medina for lunch and shopping. Chefchaouen is famous for its woven blankets, traditional wool garments, and unique handicrafts. Depart Chefchaouen around 3:00 PM for the return journey to Fes, arriving in the early evening.
