Fes to Midelt via Ifrane & Cedar Forests
Your adventure begins at 8:00 AM as we depart Fes and ascend into the Middle Atlas Mountains. Our first extended stop is Ifrane, Morocco's unique alpine-style town. Take time to explore its manicured gardens and admire the distinctive architecture.
Continue to the Azrou Cedar Forest, a pristine ecosystem home to the largest population of Barbary macaques. Spend quality time observing these fascinating primates. The ancient cedar trees here, some dating back 800 years, create a magical atmosphere.
Cross the scenic Tizi n'Talremt pass. Arrive in Midelt by late afternoon. Visit a local shop to see beautiful crystals before dinner at your hotel.
Midelt to Merzouga via Ziz Valley & Erfoud
After a hearty mountain breakfast, we descend from the Atlas Mountains into the pre-desert region. The landscape undergoes a dramatic transformation as we approach the spectacular Ziz Valley.
We'll make multiple extended stops at panoramic viewpoints. Continue to Erfoud, known as the "Gateway to the Desert." Visit a local fossil museum and workshop.
Arrive in Merzouga in the late afternoon. After a refreshing mint tea, meet your camel caravan for the trek into the dunes. Arrive at your luxury desert camp for sunset, dinner under the stars, and an unforgettable night in the Sahara.
Full Day Desert Exploration
Rise early for the magical Sahara sunrise. After breakfast, embark on a full-day excursion. Visit Khamlia Village to experience traditional Gnawa music. Continue to the Mifiss Mines and visit a nomadic family in their traditional tent.
Visit Rissani, the ancient capital of the Tafilalt region. Explore its traditional souk and see the mausoleum of Moulay Ali Cherif. Return to Merzouga for a second night at a comfortable hotel with a pool.
Merzouga to Dades Valley via Todra Gorges
After a leisurely breakfast, we begin our journey westward toward the Atlas Mountains. Our route takes us through the dramatic Todra Gorges, where dramatic 300-meter cliffs tower above a narrow canyon.
Take time to walk through the narrowest section of the gorge. Continue to the Dades Valley, known as the "Valley of a Thousand Kasbahs." We'll drive the famous Dades Gorges road with its hairpin bends. Check into your kasbah-style hotel overlooking the valley.
Dades Valley to Marrakech via Ouarzazate & Ait Benhaddou
After breakfast with views of the Dades Valley, we continue westward through the Valley of Roses. Arrive in Ouarzazate, Morocco's film capital. Visit the Taourirt Kasbah and see the film studios.
Continue to the UNESCO World Heritage site of Ait Benhaddou, Morocco's most famous kasbah. This fortified village has appeared in countless films. Walk across the traditional bridge and climb to the top for panoramic views.
After lunch, cross the dramatic Tizi n'Tichka Pass (2,260m) through the High Atlas Mountains. Descend to Marrakech, arriving in the early evening. Your driver will drop you at your riad, completing your 5-day journey.
