Fes to Meknes & Volubilis, overnight in Fes
Begin your journey with a day trip to two of Morocco's most important historical sites. Depart Fes at 9:00 AM for the short drive to Meknes, the imperial city of Sultan Moulay Ismail. Explore the magnificent Bab Mansour gate, the granaries of Heri es-Souani, and the Mausoleum of Moulay Ismail.
Continue to the ancient Roman ruins of Volubilis, a UNESCO World Heritage site. Walk among the impressive ruins including the Capitol, Basilica, and Triumphal Arch, and admire the remarkably preserved mosaics depicting mythological scenes.
Return to Fes in the late afternoon for overnight, allowing you to enjoy another evening in this magnificent imperial city.
Fes to Midelt via Ifrane & Cedar Forests
Depart Fes at 8:00 AM for the journey into the Middle Atlas Mountains. Stop at Ifrane to admire its unique alpine architecture and clean, orderly streets. Visit the famous stone lion and stroll through the manicured gardens.
Continue to the Azrou Cedar Forest to observe Barbary macaque monkeys in their natural habitat. The ancient cedar trees here are truly magnificent.
Cross scenic mountain passes with photo stops before arriving in Midelt for overnight. This mountain town, situated between the Middle and High Atlas ranges, is known for its apples and beautiful mineral specimens.
Midelt to Merzouga via Ziz Valley
After a relaxed breakfast, we descend from the mountains into the pre-desert landscape. The scenery transforms dramatically as we approach the spectacular Ziz Valley, a vast palm oasis with ancient kasbahs and date groves.
Stop in Erfoud to visit a fossil workshop and learn about the region's ancient marine history. Arrive in Merzouga in the late afternoon for your camel trek into the Erg Chebbi dunes.
Watch the sunset from atop a dune before arriving at your luxury desert camp. Enjoy a traditional Berber dinner, music around the campfire, and sleep under the incredible Saharan stars.
Merzouga to Dades Valley via Rissani & Todra
Rise early for a magical Sahara sunrise. After breakfast and camel trek back, visit Rissani, the ancient capital of the Tafilalt region. Explore its traditional souk (on market days) and see the mausoleum of Moulay Ali Cherif.
Continue to the dramatic Todra Gorges, where towering 300-meter cliffs create a spectacular canyon. Walk through the narrowest section and enjoy lunch with stunning views.
Continue through the Dades Valley, known as the Valley of a Thousand Kasbahs, with its dramatic rock formations and ancient fortresses. Overnight in a kasbah-style hotel overlooking the valley.
Dades Valley to Ouarzazate & Ait Benhaddou
After breakfast, explore more of the Dades Valley with its unique rock formations and ancient kasbahs. Continue through the Valley of Roses to Ouarzazate, Morocco's film capital.
Visit the impressive Taourirt Kasbah and the film studios where movies like Gladiator and Lawrence of Arabia were shot. Then journey to the UNESCO World Heritage site of Ait Benhaddou, Morocco's most famous kasbah.
Spend the afternoon exploring this ancient fortified village, walking across its traditional bridge and climbing to the top for panoramic views. Overnight in a hotel near this magnificent site.
Ait Benhaddou to Marrakech via High Atlas
After a leisurely breakfast with views of Ait Benhaddou, we cross the dramatic Tizi n'Tichka Pass (2,260m) through the High Atlas Mountains. The winding road offers spectacular views at every turn, with opportunities for photos at scenic viewpoints.
Stop for lunch at a mountain restaurant with panoramic views before descending to the plains around Marrakech. Arrive in the Red City in the mid-afternoon.
Your driver will drop you at your riad or hotel in the medina. Spend your evening exploring the famous Jemaa el-Fnaa square, completing your incredible 6-day journey through Morocco's imperial history and natural wonders.
