Fes to Midelt via Ifrane & Cedar Forests
Your grand Moroccan journey begins at 8:00 AM as we depart Fes and ascend into the Middle Atlas Mountains. Our first major stop is Ifrane, known as the "Switzerland of Morocco" for its alpine architecture, clean streets, and European atmosphere. Visit the famous stone lion and stroll through the manicured gardens.
Continue to the Azrou Cedar Forest to observe Barbary macaque monkeys in their natural habitat among ancient cedar trees. Cross scenic mountain passes with photo stops before arriving in Midelt for overnight. This mountain town, situated between the Middle and High Atlas ranges, offers beautiful views and a peaceful atmosphere.
Midelt to Merzouga via Ziz Valley & Erfoud
After breakfast, descend from the mountains into the pre-desert region. The landscape transforms as we approach the spectacular Ziz Valley, a vast palm oasis stretching over 100 kilometers with ancient kasbahs and date groves.
Stop in Erfoud to visit a fossil workshop and learn about the region's ancient marine history. Arrive in Merzouga in the late afternoon for your camel trek into the Erg Chebbi dunes. Watch the sunset from atop a dune before arriving at your luxury desert camp for dinner, traditional Berber music, and an unforgettable night under the Saharan stars.
Full Day Desert Exploration
Rise early for a magical Sahara sunrise. After breakfast, embark on a full-day excursion around the Merzouga region. Visit Khamlia Village to experience traditional Gnawa music and learn about this unique culture. Continue to the Mifiss Mines and visit a nomadic family in their traditional tent.
Visit Rissani, the ancient capital of the Tafilalt region, and explore its traditional souk. Return to Merzouga for a second night at a comfortable hotel at the edge of the dunes with a pool.
Merzouga to Dades Valley via Todra Gorges
After breakfast, we begin our journey westward. Visit Rissani if you missed it yesterday, then continue to the dramatic Todra Gorges. Walk through the towering canyon where cliffs rise 300 meters on either side.
Continue through the Dades Valley, known as the Valley of a Thousand Kasbahs, with its dramatic rock formations. Overnight in a kasbah-style hotel overlooking the valley.
Dades Valley to Marrakech via Ouarzazate & Ait Benhaddou
After breakfast, continue through the Valley of Roses to Ouarzazate, Morocco's Hollywood. Visit the Taourirt Kasbah and film studios. Continue to the UNESCO World Heritage site of Ait Benhaddou, Morocco's most famous kasbah.
Explore this ancient fortified village before crossing the dramatic Tizi n'Tichka Pass through the High Atlas Mountains. Descend to Marrakech for overnight.
Full Day in Marrakech
Enjoy a full day exploring the wonders of Marrakech. Visit the iconic Jemaa el-Fnaa square, the Koutoubia Mosque (exterior), the beautiful Bahia Palace, and the serene Majorelle Garden. Explore the vibrant souks of the medina.
In the evening, return to Jemaa el-Fnaa to experience its transformation as food stalls, musicians, storytellers, and performers create one of the world's most vibrant night markets. Enjoy dinner at one of the food stalls or a traditional restaurant.
Marrakech to Essaouira via Argan Forests
After breakfast, depart Marrakech for the coastal town of Essaouira. The route takes you through the scenic countryside and argan forests, where you may see goats climbing the argan trees - a unique sight! Stop at a women's argan oil cooperative to learn how this precious oil is produced.
Arrive in Essaouira, a UNESCO World Heritage site known for its well-preserved 18th-century fortifications, blue-shuttered houses, and relaxed atmosphere. Enjoy lunch at a seafood restaurant overlooking the harbor, then explore the medina with its craft shops, art galleries, and cafes.
Walk along the ramparts for stunning Atlantic views and watch the fishermen bring in their catch. Your driver will drop you at your hotel or the airport, completing your incredible 7-day journey across Morocco.
